Accomplished in the research project "Creation of medical recommendations for daily skin care of psoriasis patients, with active substances of natural origin, encapsulated in cosmetics, and development of its production technology" in the period until 31.12.2023 .

In the project until December 31, 2023 iseveral combinations of active substances, bases and preservatives have been created. Base creams with active ingredients that have undergone stability tests have been developed. The development activity of the combination of antimicrobial substances and new preservation technology has been completed and several variants of natural creams have been successfully obtained, with 7 different emulsifiers and mixtures of antimicrobial substances. For detergent – ​​several stable options with 5 different emulsifiers and detergents.

The use of active substances in different skin care product bases was evaluated and the 1st part of the report was prepared on the effect of cosmetic substances on skin affected by psoriasis and eczema.

As part of the 5th activity of the project, preservative efficiency tests were carried out, 2 different and stable product systems were selected, which can be scaled. Scaling started.

An in-vivo study application has been developed that evaluates the response of patients with psoriasis and atopic dermatitis to concentrations of active substances in different products.

During the reporting period, active work was carried out on the development of the cream and creation of the In-vivo study protocol, which will be continued in the next reporting period.

SIA "Labrains" is implementing a research project "Creation of medical recommendations for daily skin care of psoriasis patients, with active substances of natural origin, encapsulated in cosmetics, and development of its production technology".

Research project "Creation of medical recommendations for daily skin care of psoriasis patients, with active substances of natural origin, encapsulated in cosmetics, and development of its production technology" iwithin the guidelines it is intended to develop recommendations for a two-stage skin protection system. Within the framework of this project, at least 1 (one) cosmetic product will be developed for the daily care of skin affected by psoriasis, which will form a durable protective layer to restore the skin's natural balance and protect it from external stressors. The product system will consist of at least two cosmetic products of natural origin: skin rejuvenating daily cream; cleaning agent. The product, which will be developed as a result of the research project, will be natural with an innovative active substance incorporation system and will include biotechnologically obtained raw materials, the preservation system will not contain traditional preservatives, which can be very irritating to psoriasis patients, including benzyl alcohol, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, benzoic acid, salicylic acid, dehydroacetic acid, ethyl alcohol, pentylene glycol (1,5-pentanediol), propylene glycol (1,2-propanediol), etc.

Project implementation period: 01.04.2023. – 31.03.2026.

The total eligible costs of the research project are planned to be 80,530.00 euros, including co-financing from European Union Funds of 60,224.00 euros.

The research is carried out within the PHARMACY, BIOMEDICINE AND MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY COMPETENCE CENTER project.

09.02.2022.

As part of the project, a dermatological test study under the supervision of a dermatologist has been concluded with successfully achieved results on the effectiveness of products in the care of atopic, dry facial skin.

Scaling has been done and the product is being put into production.

One publication was developed and submitted for publication in the Dermatology Online Journal (DOJ). Work continues on the development of a research report and publication.

08.12.2021

As part of the project, samples of two-step protection products have been prepared for testing and a dermatological test study has been started with the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of the products in the care of atopic, dry facial skin. Testing takes place under the supervision of a certified dermatologist.

Work continues on the development of the research report.

08.09.2021

Nearing the end of the 2nd intermediate stage of the project, active substances have been selected, incorporated into cosmetic emulsions and their stability has been evaluated in laboratory conditions.

The evaluation of the effectiveness of the microbiological parameters and the antimicrobial system used has been completed, and work is underway on the incorporation of aromas that meet the criteria into the recipe.

Work has begun on scaling up the base recipes and preparing samples for internal efficacy testing.

11.06.2021

At the start of the 2nd intermediate stage of the project, the preservative research, stability and final preservatives were selected, with which the microbiological efficacy testing of the preservatives is still ongoing.

In addition, the work continues to search for the compatibility of active substances and to learn their properties, so that they can be successfully formed into a stable mixture with the existing stable manufactured cream base.

A first grade skin cleansing oil milk has been developed that is dermatologically tested and approved as hypoallergenic. This gentle skin cleanser, which is suitable for atopic dermatitis skins - Oil to milk, is being scaled up and put into production.

04.03.2021

As part of the 1st intermediate stage of the project, practical activities have been started in laboratory conditions, where we have evaluated natural preservatives and their combinations, evaluated their stability, as well as the effect on the skin's protective layer.

When choosing preservatives and their combinations, we also evaluated preservatives that have been obtained in the fermentation process and their various properties and pH values ​​meet our requirements, taking into account the pH of the face to match, also in the bases of care products - oils, creams, gels and detergents .

Gathering of both the theoretical information and practical information obtained from the activity already carried out in the laboratory environment has been started in order to create recipes for the necessary care product bases and detergents using new and already proven biotechnologies.

08.12.2020.

Within the framework of the 1st activity of the project, the theoretical evaluation of preservatives of natural origin, the latest generation and their mutual combinations has been started. The irritating effect of preservatives and their combinations on the skin's protective layer is estimated to be minimal, due to their suitability to balance the microbiota of the skin and strengthen its natural protective function of the barrier. 

When choosing combinations of preservatives, their potential application to various face care product bases - oils, creams, gels and detergents is assessed, taking into account the pH of the products, the polarity of the substances and the properties of hydrophilic or lipophilic dispersions. 

The collection of information on the purchase of the necessary substances for the development of base creams and detergents has been started in order to test the theoretical assumptions in laboratory development tests.

The project is implemented under the specific support objective 1.2.1 "Increase private sector investments in R&D" of the Action Program "Growth and Employment" measure 1.2.11 "Support for the development of new products and technologies within the competence centers."

Currently, the research project "Development of high-quality natural cosmetic products for skin affected by dermatitis, using innovative preservation systems" is being implemented.

20.11.2020.

Within the framework of the research project "Development of high-quality natural cosmetic products for skin affected by dermatitis, using innovative preservation systems", it is planned to develop a system of skin cleansing and moisturizing products, which would consist of at least two products of natural origin: caring daily cream; oils and/or micellar water. In the products that will be developed as a result of the research project, the preservation system will not include chemical components that can be skin irritants, including naturally occurring benzyl alcohol, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, benzoic acid, salicylic acid, dehydroacetic acid, ethyl alcohol, pentylene glycol (1,5-pentanediol). , propylene glycol (1,2-propanediol), etc.
